Maya Lockwood

Maya has worked in Silicon Valley for 19 years. She has served the Startup and Venture Capital ecosystem at small ($5M) to large (1B+) funds in communications director, investor relations, and community engagement roles. She has operated, designed, and scaled the world’s largest biotech and deep tech program with her team, building a portfolio valued at $9B+, which created a powerful global movement. Maya has mentored and advised numerous founders and investors on communications strategy, to build their platform, find their voice, amplify their stories, expand their syndicates, connect to resources, raise capital, and develop leadership. She has gained an understanding of the heartache, joys, challenges, backchannel conversations, alliances, hard work, and perserverance it takes for success in the tech industry.

Maya was born in the rapidly dissappearing jungles of Bangladesh, which is home to the Garo people, one of the oldest Matriarchal tribes indigenous to the region. She was adopted by an American family and spent her childhood in the capital of Dhaka, a hub for international NGO’s, research and development. For 28 years, her father worked with projects focussed on solar power and renewable energies that assisted small business and entrepreneurship for women in rural areas. Maya witnessed the effects of poverty, climate, flooding, deforestation, and migration while growing up in Bangladesh. The scale of the problems seemed overwhelming, and she wanted to help.

When Maya was an adult, she embarked on a profound journey to reconnect with her biological family and explore her story, which inspired her to join forces with those who are committed to human and planetary stewardship.
